- Global gambling revenue will exceed $150bn annually by 2012, a PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP report suggests. The report, Global Entertainment and Media Outlook: 2008-2012,
predicts global gambling revenue will increase by a compounded rate of
6.5 per cent each year, from $114bn in 2007 to $155bn in 2012.
- The amount gambled on poker websites around the world is estimated to be more than USD 60 billion for 2005.
- More than 60% of the industry experts surveyed believe that online poker will be the dominant offer in online gambling in 2-3 years.
- 75% of the industry experts surveyed believe that the global annual rake/commission in the next 2-3 years will be more than USD 4 billion.
- According to some estimates, more than £50 million is being wagered a day at the virtual poker table, compared with just £6 million two years ago. In Britain, about £4 million a day is bet on internet poker.
